Each BICE facility will have an affordable annual membership to BICE that is proportionate to that facility’s revenue. BICE also offers different membership options at each facility. Existing facilities that were not originally built by BICE can have membership and accreditation to BICE, but to maintain their membership, they must follow a set of guidelines given by BICE Headquarters. Memberships to visitors can be offered for individual facilities or at the regional level, or an overall membership for its facilities nationwide. Membership options include annual or lifetime, individual, family groups, company, or school.
There are different methods as to how taxonomic groups are chosen. Primarily, BICE follows recommendations set forth by conservation status definitions as prescribed by the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) regarding which taxonomic groups (family, subfamily, tribe etc.) contain the highest number of threatened or endangered taxa . Other factors include the city’s climate, landscape, fiscal dynamics, cultural interests.
As a non-profit enterprise, BICE headquarters and facilities are funded through various means, such as public (city, county, state and federal) and private donations, private foundations and on-location revenue streams as described on each facility’s website. Each facility also holds annual galas to raise money for its needs that year through individual donors. The public also may donate to BICE, through its web portal here
Each facility has a park director who reports to upper management at BICE headquarters. BICE has a set of standards and founding principles to which each of its facilities are required to adhere.
Facilities that were not originally built by BICE can have membership and accreditation to BICE, but to maintain their membership, they must follow a set of guidelines provided by Headquarters. Being that BICE facilities donate towards environmental education, field conservation and scientific research throughout the world, people doing such work, globally, can reach out to BICE and introduce themselves, describing their work/projects and requesting sponsorship or other collaborative opportunities. Collaboration can be done through joint conservation, education, and research projects, as well as cross-advertising opportunities.

Absolutely! Each BICE facility welcomes donations through their respective websites and contributes toward environmental education, field conservation, and scientific research throughout the world. When you visit BICE facilities, on the signs for each species and subspecies at their collections, there is a ‘text to donate’ bar-code which allows you to donate as much or as little as you want toward the scientific research and conservation of that taxon in the wild, in their native range. BICE also plans to eventually construct facilities outside of the United States.
