Giraffe Institute
Giraffe Institute is a facility that keeps all 10 species and subspecies from the family Giraffidae.
CONCEPT INSTITUTE 2 - giraffe INSTITUTE
Each of the 9 members of the genus Giraffa and the one member of the genus Okapia, will be placed in specific areas, next to one another so guests may readily compare the differences in size and pattern between each taxon. Each paddock for each taxon will be 20 acres in size, with the Okapi (Okapia jonhstoni) enclosure, being more narrow, placed in the far back of the facility. The paddocks for Giraffa sp. will be located closer to each other, more centrally within the park.
Buildings:
The overall aesthetic of the Institute is intended to have a natural ambiance with the intention of having a full appreciation of the subtle differences between these varied species. Rather than distract from the animals on view, the design will enhance the educational and meditative environment of the Institute.
Having a total of 10 buildings, each with some form of public viewing, the animal’s enclosure would include a cinderblock building that would serve as a shifting and holding area for each animal taxon.
