INSTITUTES - MUSEUMS
In view of the risk that some scientifically important specimens are inadvertently disposed of or destroyed due to space limitations or lack of funds to store in existing locations, BICE museums would provide homes for storage of such materials, as well as bringing the means for education, research and display to local communities.
BICE would help design, establish and organize natural history collections for public colleges and universities, seeking to bring conservation and environment preservation to the forefront of societies’ consciousness. These small museums would spark the imagination of students, researchers and visitors alike.
BICE intends to include small, taxonomically focused natural history museums and fossil collections (casts) according to the taxonomic group featured at that institute.
Importance:
Because there were once flora and fauna that do not exist in today’s world, their similarities to present-day animals and plants suggest subtle changes evolved through acclamation to changing planetary environmental conditions.
This acknowledgement spurs the realization that life is not only fragile, but ever-changing. With historical placement of creatures who lived and walked their regions over unimaginable spans of time, people can have context for present-day life and an enhanced appreciation for life to come.
One major reason that the field of Paleontology is important is because fossils can give us insights into what the environment and ecosystems were. They give us clues for what to expect in the future regarding climate change, evolution and adaptability.
